Samsung Omnia i910 Rom

The team at modaco, more specifically user BamDastard, has released a new Samsung Omnia i910 Rom. Here are the links to the rom files:

The instructions they included on the thread (which is also linked above) is for an earlier version. Which is why it lists “UMDL_OMNIA_v1.7.exe” as one of the file requirements. Just know that whenever the instruction files references “UMDL_OMNIA_v1.7.exe” they really mean “UMDL_OMNIA_v2.3.exe” which is the file included in the rom .RAR.

Moving on.

You will also need Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 and the SAMSUNG-Mobile-USB-DRIVER(4.40.7.0)-v1.6 which I’ve linked here. By the way, I pulled the Samsung USB Driver straight from the Verizon VZAccess Manager CD that came with in the Omnia box.

Now the instruction doesn’t make mention of the Broadcom Bluetooth Driver but I recommend installing it anyways. I’ve never been able to fully get my phone to tether with my laptop without it. (By tethering I mean being able to connect my laptop to the internet by using the COM port of my phone)

The rest of the instructions are pretty self explanatory. I must advice that you should only flash your ROM if you ready to accept the risk of turning your phone in to a brick. Based on the responses from the forum few people have had problems but I just want to be clear that this upgrade is AT YOUR OWN RISK. Once you’ve flashed your rom you cannot restore your original copy unless you’ve backed it up.

I plan on trying out this rom just as soon as I find a reliable way to backup and restore the original rom on my phone. Once I do of course I will post it here :) .

I’m adding extra stuff here to show mouse things.
